You have your eye on an item you want to make an offer on, but you’re not sure what to consider when bidding. This article explains what you should keep in mind and how to make an offer step by step.
ARTICLE CONTENTS:
Before making an offer
- Carefully read the listing and the information provided about the item before making an offer
- If you want to ask about the condition of the item or inspect it in person, you will find the seller’s contact information in the listing
- Offers are binding and making an offer without the intention to purchase is prohibited
- As the bidder, you are responsible for your offer. Do not make an offer on behalf of someone else but direct them to register for the service
- The condition, service life, and upgrade possibilities of used items generally do not match those sold as new. More information here.
- Consumer purchases are subject to the statutory right of withdrawal, the terms and restrictions of which are specified in the terms of sale.
Submitting an offer
You can make an offer on the item’s listing page. On the right side of the page, you’ll find the offer window:
- Log in with your username. If you haven’t registered on Huutokaupat.com yet, you can easily do so, Create an account
- Enter your desired offer in the Place highest bid field
- By default, the offer is the minimum increment for the item, but you can offer more if you wish
- When you click Bid, a window will open where you confirm your offer. In the offer window, you’ll see the item’s pickup/delivery costs and a breakdown of the item’s VAT. The total shows how much your total bid will be if you win the item with this amount.
- If you want to make the offer, click Bid!
- Your offer is now confirmed and binding.
If someone has increased the price while you were making your offer and your offer is lower than theirs, the site will inform you that your offer could not be accepted. In this case, refresh the listing page and, if you wish, make a new, higher offer.
After making an offer
-
When you have the highest offer and are logged in, the listing will display the text: Your offer is currently winning!

- When your offer has been outbid, the text will appear on a blue background: Your offer
The remaining auction time runs in the offer window. If less than 3 minutes remain in the auction and a new offer is made, the remaining auction time will always be extended by three minutes.
It’s a good idea to actively follow the end of the auction and refresh the listing page so you can react if your offer is outbid at the last moment and you want to stay in the game.
